PURPOSE:To detach and connect cells and to easily edit a table without using a complicated detachment/connection rule and without permitting a user to execute a complicated operation by providing a target table and a comparison table for a work memory. CONSTITUTION:For editing the table expressed by the combination of the rectan gular cells, the cell being the object of editing and the cell which is adjacent to the cell and which can be unified, namely, the cell whose start row (column) and termination row (column) are the same are obtained in a target cell acknowl edgement processing. Then, the target table and the comparison table are gener ated in the work memory 81 and a content data comparison processing is execut ed as against all the combinations of the cell to be edited and the cell to be compared, which are obtained from two tables. Namely, the content data of two cells are compared. When they are equal, '0' is returned as a return value and two cells are unified. When they are not equal, '-1' is returned as the return value. Thus, the detachment and connection of the cells are attained and the table can easily be edited without using the complicated detachment/ connection rule and without permitting the user to execute the complicated operation. |
