The invention relates to a device making it possible to protect several credit or payment cards against use by persons other than the holder. It consists of a box (3) having a drawer (2) in which one or more cards (1) are inserted. The user sets up the correct combination (4) and, when he pushes the drawer (2) into the box (3), a tenon (7) engages in a mortice (6) of the drawer (2). With the combination (4) scrambled, the drawer (2) containing the card or cards can no longer be withdrawn from the box (3). In order to withdraw the card (1) from the box (3), the user has to set up the correct combination (4), push the trigger (9), a spring (10) placed in the box (3) partially driving the drawer (2) out of the box (3). The user can extract the card (1), after having lifted it up via a recessed part of the drawer (3). The device according to the invention is particularly aimed at protecting all bankers' cards. <IMAGE>
