The synchroniser for use in synchronised switch couplings in vehicle gears, has a conical hole (11,14) which has a wear-resistasnt layer (2). The friction-lining (2) in the cone (11,14) of the synchronising ring (1) is compacted and smoothed. The cone (11,14) is calibrated. The operation is performed by a tool (3) which has a conical smoothing punch in its lower part and which holds the blank (1R). The upper tool part has a conical annular punch. USE/ADVANTAGE - The blank (1R) of the synchronising ring (1) has measurements in relationm to the conical hole so that the synchronising ring is calibrated.
