<p>PURPOSE:To effectively and simply prevent the generation of algae in the sedimentation basin of a water purification plant by floating light shielding floating bodies on the surface of water in the basin irradiated with sunbeams. CONSTITUTION:Light shielding floating bodies 8 made of rigid styrene foam are floated on the surface of water in the sedimentation basin of a water purification plant irradiated with sunbeams. By this simple low-cost method, the generation of algae can be effectively prevented, the reaction of org. matter derived from algae with free chlorine in the water does not take place and the formation of trihalomethane can be prevented. Even in the case of preliminary chlorine treatment, it is made unnecessary to inject sodium hypochlorite in excess and sterilization is carried out at a low cost.</p> |
