<p>Additive for friction materials such as brake linings, to improve performance, consisting of granules of a mixture containing metal or metal oxide powder, ceramic powder, graphite powder and a thermosetting resin binder. Binder (phenolic resin 33.62% (by volume) Graphite powder 15.63% (by volume) Ceramic powder (mullite) 18.20% (by volume) Powdered metal (Fe) 32.55% (by volume) mixed thoroughly, resin cured under heat and pressure. The mass is then ground to particles 0.84-4.76mm, and these are added to the friction material in proportion 1.5-20%, and treated in the usual manner.</p> |
