Highly fungicidal stereoisomers of N-(R)-(1-aryl-ethyl)-1-alkyl-2,2-dichloro-cyclopropanecarboxamides of the formula <IMAGE> (Ia) or <IMAGE> (Ib) or a mixture thereof, substantially free of other stereoisomers, in which R1 stands for optionally branched alkyl having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, R2 stands for hydrogen, methyl or ethyl and X stands for hydrogen or halogen. Also new are intermediates of the formula <IMAGE> or mixtures thereof, substantially free of other stereoisomers, in which R1 stands for optionally branched alkyl having 2 to 4 carbon atoms. R2 stands for hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, and Q stands for Cl, OH, or methoxy or ethoxy.
