Galvano-plastic process for prodn. of hollow ornamental jewellery or hollow parts comprising electrolytic metal coating of a mould core and finally dissolving out the core material, has the novelty of using a compound core which, in combination with the core material, incorporates a structural part made of metal having the same fineness as the metal with which the mould core is electrolytically coated. In at least one position (3,10) the structural part forms the surface of the compound core. More specifically the part serves as a reinforcement and extends beyond the mould core material (11). It may comprise the closure part of a fastener or be a jewellery setting. ADVANTAGE - The products are produced more readily and possess improved strength and stability. In an example, the fastening has the shape of a banana with, in cross-section, a flat floor (1) and curved roof (2) having at one end an eylet (3) for the attachment of a chain. At the other end a latch can be inserted through an opening (4) to engage with a guide part (5).
