PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and a dust removing apparatus, which obtain a beautiful image less affected by dust even when the dust exists on cover glass or the like located on an optical path between an imaging element and a photographing optical system. SOLUTION: A coating layer for preventing dust adhesion is formed on the surface of the cover glass 22, an acceleration mechanism 23 comprising laminated piezoelectric elements is provided, and one end of the acceleration mechanism 23 in the laminated direction of the piezoelectric elements is pressed into contact with a proper place of one end of the cover glass 22, and a pulse-like drive signal is applied to the acceleration mechanism 23 while a press contact member 24 energizes the cover glass 22 toward one end of the acceleration mechanism 23. Thus, a greater acceleration is exerted to the cover glass 22, resulting in activating greater inertial force to the dust to allow the dust from being fallen off from the surface of the cover glass 22.
