The laser control unit (SK) associated with a Laser Write Head derives its instructions from a computerised system and produces both standard lettering and unconventional lines by combining basic form elements stored in an intermediate Store (SP). Text and scribe parameters derive from a micro computer (EE) which provides processing instructions to a processor (VE) which uses the memory base stored in the intermediate store (SP) as well as in the auxiliary store (VEZ). The latter operates in parallel to take up overloads. All assembled form packages are supplied with sequential reference numbers and passed on to a digital/analogue converter (PSU). Its output is applied to a positional head setting machine (SK) causing the Laser Head to produce the writing. The objectives of the arrangement are: reducing time delays and bottlenecks in the form assembly process; also, providing greater independence in the passing on to the laser head of positional instructions and other parameters such as the thickening or thinning of lines. ADVANTAGE - Allowing several sub-functions to operate in parallel, performance speed is increased.
