A one-way clutch with means for setting the on-off torque in one direction comprises an outer ring 11 formed on the inner peripheral surface thereof with a plurality of cam surfaces 12, an inner member 14 mounted in the outer ring, a plurality of rollers 15 mounted between the respective cam surfaces 12 and the inner member 14, and springs 17 supported on supporting surfaces 18 formed on the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring 11 to bias the rollers 15 in such a direction as to brie into between the cam surfaces 12 and the inner member 14. The ring 14 is secured to a shaft 21 by a pin which may be held in place by an end ring (32, fig 5) or may be omitted, the shaft 21 then forming the inner member. The torque limit may be selected by providing springs of differing biassing force, and/or varying the selected roller diameter, and/or varying the outer diameter of the selected inner member, thus enabling the on-off torque, when the shaft is rotated in the direction B, to be set. <IMAGE>
