<p>PURPOSE:To remove org. materials contained in waste water by treating the waste water from a food industry, etc., with cohesive yeast. CONSTITUTION:Waste water from a food industry, etc., is treated with cohesive yeast Hansenula-Anomala J224 to remove org. materials in the waste water. In the waste water treatment by the cohesive yeast, the pH of the waste water is regulated in the wide range of 3-8, or preferably regulated to <=5pH to prevent the contamination with other microbes. The treating temp. is controlled to 10-36 deg.C, or preferably to 15-30 deg.C. When sodium hypochlorite or sulfurous acid is added every day or every other day so that the respective contents in waste water may be adjusted to 20-30ppm, the contamination with other microbes can be effectively prevented. In case of the waste water having a low content of org. materials, water quantity below the effluent standard can be obtained only by the treatment with cohesive yeast. When the waste water having a high content of org. materials is treated, a biological treatment such as an activated sludge process or a physical treatment such as an activated carbon adsorption process is used jointly with the treatment with cohesive yeast.</p> |
