PURPOSE:To form a clear color image on an image receiving layer by forming a layer contg. a thermally nondiffusible dye providing substance which releases a sublimable dye or a precursor thereof by the reaction with the oxidized product of a developing agent produced by heat development. CONSTITUTION:A thermally nondiffusible dye providing substance represented by formula I (where Dye is a residue of a sublimable dye or a precursor thereof, X is a residue of a 5-pyrazolone deriv., J is a bivalent group bonding to the 4- position of the pyrazolone deriv. such as -O-, -S- or -NH-, and (n) is 0 or 1), e.g. a compound represented by formula II is dispersed in an aqueous soln. of a hydrophilic binder together with photosensitive silver halide, the silver salt of an org. compound, and a developing agent such as p-phenylenediamine or a precursor thereof. The dispersion is applied to a support to form a photosensitive layer. An image receiving layer formed by coating a support such as paper with a layer of gelatin or a synthetic polymer is superposed on the photosensitive layer, the photosensitive layer is imagewise exposed, and a dye is sublimed by heating from the support side of the photosensitive layer with an iron or the like to obtain a clear image. |
