<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a curable resin useful as a binder for a printing ink or the like by reacting a specified hydroxylated cyclopentadiene with a polyisocyanate compound and further reacting the product with an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:A hydroxylated cyclopentadiene resin obtained by thermally polymerizing 100 pts.wt. at least one compound selected from among compounds of the formula (wherein R is a 1-3 C alkyl, m and n are each 0-6, and m+n=6) and Diels-Alder adducts of these compounds (e.g. dicyclopentadiene) with 0-50 pts.wt. aromatic compound having a polymerizable double bond (e.g. styrene) and 2-120 pts.wt. hydroxy compound having a polymerizable double bond (e.g. allyl alcohol) and/or a hydroxylated resin obtained by selectively hydrogenating the double bonds of this resin are reacted with a polyisocyanate compound (e.g. hexamethylene diisocyanate) in an equivalent ratio of the isocyanate groups to the hydroxyl groups of the resin of 0.02-0.95 to obtain a resin (A), which is further reacted with an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid (e.g. acrylic acid) in an equivalent ratio of the COOH groups to the hydroxyl groups of A of 0.1-1.1.</p> |
