The bucket wheel extractor has a housing with an inlet aperture which can be connected to a container outlet and an outlet aperture coaxial with the inlet aperture. A rotor between the apertures has a hub (12) with attached radial vane walls adjustably mounted between flange plates (36). The vane walls are radially outwardly adjustable by spreader parts operated hydraulically, pneumatically, electrically or by spring force. A cone (50), axially movably mounted inside the hub, has longitudinal grooves holding the vane walls which pass through slots in the hub. USE/ADVANTAGE - Controlled extraction of powdered or dust-like material from container. Operating life of rotor increased considerably compared with those of conventional bucket wheel extractors.
