The present invention relates to a support cushion. This cushion comprises a seat zone 27 and a back rest zone 28 having faces 11, 12 intended to be directed, respectively, towards a subject in a defined position and towards means forming a seat 13; between these faces 11, 12 flexible walls 2, 3 which are impermeable to gases delimit at least one depressurisable chamber 5 in which are accommodated substantially incompressible filling means 14 which can be in the flexible state or the rigid state depending on whether the depressurisable chamber 5 is at atmospheric pressure or depressurised; this cushion additionally comprises, opposite the faces 12 intended to be directed towards the subject relative to the depressurisable chamber, elastic padding means 41, 52, for example pneumatic means, situated at least in the zones corresponding, respectively, to the spine and to the thighs of a subject occupying the said defined position. <IMAGE>
