In prior-art injection nozzles effective cooling of the nozzle base is needed to limit the fouling of the jet. It is the purpose of the invention to design the heat protection disc (40, 60) in such a way that a larger area of the nozzle base (36) is screened from the combustion chamber of the engine than in the known designs and to prevent thermal overload on the heat protection disc (40, 60) through good thermal contact between it and the heat-conducting components (14, 26). To do so, the heat protection disc (40, 60) is fitted with a collar (50, 64) surrounding its inner aperture (54) which fits closely in the aperture (52) of the locknut (14) surrounded by the annular flange (38). The preferred field of application is the diesel engine.
