Water from a settler is supplied under static pressure and further settled in one or more horizontal pipes. Water is discharged from the pipe(s) and made to collide one or more times to form finely divided conical sprays. The settled solids are occasionally removed using high pressure water. - The equipment comprises vertical feed pipe branching into horizontal distribution pipes which are fitted with water discharge fittings on their top surface. A wash-water connection is provided with a valve.
