In a telephoto lens having a front collecting system separated by a large air gap from a rear divergent system, each system consisting of two components of which those in the front system are menisci convex towards the front, the focal lengths of the individual components I-IV are such that:- f being the equivalent focal length of the lens. One of the components in the front system has a dispersing cemented surface. Preferably the overall length of the front system is greater than 0.8 times the larger air gap but less than 0.25f. Optical data are given for two examples of the lens shown and for one example of a lens in which-the rear component of the collecting front system is a singlet. |
