PURPOSE:To facilitate the working of an R-TM-B warm-worked magnet and improve the magnetic characteristics by adding 0.0004-1.2wt.% of lubricant to a magnetically anisotropic, warm-worked magnet consisting of rare earths, transition metals and boron. CONSTITUTION:By making warm-worked magnet contain an appropriate amount of lubricant, both formability and magnetic characteristics are improved. The lubricant has a temperature range for use at 600 deg.C or higher, and is kind or combination of two kinds or more out of boron nittide, black lead, and molybdenum disulfide. Besides, the lubricant not only has a mere lubrication effect, but improve the magnetic characteristics by a specified amount left unremoved. Thin belts or thin segments, obtained by cooling extremelyrapidly and solidifying a hot liquid of an alloy consisting of rare earths, transition metals, and boron, are smashed into pieces, and the powder is pressed into a high density one with a hot press. After that, warm, plastic working is performed to the powder and the powder is mixed with the lubricant. The quantity of the lubricant to be added is determined to be little more so that end work may contain 0.0004-1.2wt.% of the lubricant. |
