PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of transmission by executing signal transmission between a control station in a ring-like loop and a terminal station on the basis of a transmitting optical signal constituted of a transmission frame obtained by arranging plural time slots to be reference units. CONSTITUTION:In a ring optical communication system constituted by connecting the control station 24 and plural terminal stations 23 to the ring-like optical loop 21 through an optical branching/multiplexing equipment 22, a transmission signal to be transmitted from the control station to the optical loop uses a time slot consisting of 12 bits as one reference unit which is constituted by arranging a time slot signal 2 to be a space signal of one bit, a guard bit 3 consisting of one bit, an information bit string 4 consisting of 9 bits, and a guard bit 5 consisting of one bit. The transmission signal is constituted by arranging plural time slots 1 as a transmission frame 11. Namely, the frame 11 is constituted of a frame header 12 consisting of two time slot strings, a loop control information slot 13 for transmitting loop control information and an information transmitting slot 14 for transmitting information between the control station 24 and the terminal station 23. |
