PURPOSE:To estimate the sliding of a head and a disk in a short time by detecting the fine displacement in the vertical direction and the horizontal direction of flat springs which support the magnetic head by a force detection element. CONSTITUTION:When a medium 15 rotates, a frictional force works between the magnetic head 8 and the medium 15 and the flat springs 5 and 6 are finely displaced in the horizontal direction which is a rotating direction. By pressing the medium 15 with the magnetic head 8, the flat springs 1 and 2 are finely displaced up and down in a direction vertical to the medium 15. By disposing distortion gauges 12, 13, 10 and 11 which are the force detection elements on said springs 5, 6, 1 and 2, the forces in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction against the medium can be detected. The friction coefficient between the head and the medium can be directly obtained from the force in the horizontal direction (frictional force) and the force in the vertical direction (pressing force). Thus, the durability and the sliding of the magnetic head and the medium can be estimated in a short time. |
