A pneumatic tyre has a replaceable tread comprised of two or more separate tread bands 3, 2 or 4 which are each reinforced at their inner periphery by circumferential natural or synthetic textile, or metallic, filaments so as to be substantially inextensible at least the shoulder tread bands 3 having laterally outwardly projecting shoulders 9 to seat on the carcase periphery. Each band may have a shoulder on each side to overlie the carcase periphery, adjacent shoulders abutting each other as shown for the bands 3, 4 in Fig. 4. The tread bands are of natural or synthetic rubber or the like with a tread surface of transverse ribs 8, and are seated in axially spaced relation in circumferential grooves 6 in the carcase periphery. The carcase may comprise radially disposed reinforcing cards and conventional breaker strips 10. Specification 863,002 is referred to. |
