An electrical circuit for producing in an electrical path a time delay comprises a pulse generator (12) which is arranged to produce at its output an edge or transition at a given time interval after an edge or transition is applied to an input (14) thereof, the pulse generator (12) having a control input to which a signal can be applied to vary said time interval, means (16) for producing an electrical signal indicative of said time interval, a comparing circuit (10) arranged to receive said signal and a further signal indicative of a reference time interval, said comparing means producing an error signal which is applied to said control input of said pulse generator (12) to maintain the time interval in a given relationship to the said reference time interval. The circuit has application in the read circuitry of digital tape devices.
