PURPOSE:To enhance the chipping resistance of a car body, by bonding a chipping-resistant plastic film to the surface of the top coat film corresponding to the part pressed by a press member. CONSTITUTION:After electrodeposition painting is applied to the outer panel of a car body, chipping-resistant paint composed of a vinyl chloride plastisol is applied to said outer panel to form a chipping-resistant film and the chipping- resistant film part corresponding to the bonding part of a chipping-resistant plastic film is pressed by a press member when said chipping-resistant paint is in a semi-cured state to smooth the surface thereof. Thereafter, intermediate coat and top coat are applied and, further, the chipping-resistant plastic film is bonded to the surface of the top coat film corresponding to the part pressed by the press member. By this method, when the chipping-resistant film is bonded, it is effectively prevented that air bubbles enter between the top coat film and the chipping-resistant film and the top coat is sufficiently bonded to the film to make it possible to enhance chipping resistance. |
