In a device for the close coupling of two overrun-braked single-axle vehicles to a tandem vehicle, in which a relative movement between the vehicles is prevented by the coupling process, thereby suppressing the action of the coupling head (1) actuating the overrun brake of the respective rear vehicle, braking of the respective rear vehicle being achieved by way of at least one pivot beam (6) and an additional brake linkage (10) of the respective first vehicle and by way of the brake linkage (7) of the respective rear vehicle, the full braking force is to be automatically ensured when close coupling and separating the two individual vehicles without additional intervention in the brake system, even when only one of the individual vehicles arranged at any point is being drawn. For this purpose the additional brake linkage (10) of each vehicle is connected to the associated brake linkage (7) by way of two compensating pivot beams (16, 17), supported on the frame, incorporating an idle travel (S), which in tandem operation is used as brake operating travel and in single operation is added as idle travel of the brake actuation of the individual vehicle. <IMAGE>
