A cleaning device for removing deposits such as rings of ink or the like from the surface of a rotating roller 1 forming part of a paper, textiles or similar processing plant comprises a rotatable brush 8, which engages the surface of the roller so as to wipe the deposits from the surface of the roller, and an element 14 e.g. in the form of a brush strip which the bristles of the brush subsequently engage in order to remove the deposits from the bristles.
