<p>A joint connection for abutting first and second flanges (18, 36), particularly the annular flanges (18, 36) of a jet engine (12) and exhaust nozzle (14), comprises a transverse lip (44) formed on the second flange (36) which overlies the first flange (18) when they are axially engaged. A C-shaped clamp (66) extends over the upper half of the abutting flanges (18, 36) having spaced clamp arms (68, 70) which straddle the flanges (18, 36) so that one clamp arm (68) faces the first flange (18) and the other clamp arm (70) faces the second flange (36). A locking spring (46) is positioned between the first flange (18) and the adjacent clamp arm (68), and the facing surfaces (48, 22) of the locking spring (18) and first flange (18) are formed with mating wedge lock elements (54, 28) extending outwardly therefrom. The locking spring (46) is movable to a locked position relative to the clamp arm (68) and first flange (18) wherein the mating wedge lock elements (54, 28) of the locking spring (46) and first flange (18) engage one another and force the locking spring (46) against the adjacent clamp arm (68). This wedges the first and second flanges (18, 36) tightly between the clamp arms (68, 70) of the clamp (66) to connect them together.</p> |
