A CLUTCH OF THE DIAPHRAGM SPRING TYPE

A clutch of the diaphragm spring type comprises a pressure plate 2 for pressing a friction facing 3 against flywheel 1; and has its diaphragm spring 6 disposed at the rear side of the pressure plate 2 for loading the latter toward the flywheel 1 and including an annular portion engaging the pressure plate 2 and radial tongues integrally extending to the inner periphery of the annular portion. A release bearing 8 contacts portions 23 provided by the tongues for operating the spring 6. Some or all of the tongues are provided at positions between the contact portions 23 and the annular portion with hollows 25 which are positioned at the forward side with respect to the rotating direction of the diaphragm spring 6 and are surrounded by a wall structure which protrudes oppositely to the flywheel 1, the hollows 25 having openings which open forwardly in the rotating direction to form vanes for introducing cooling air into the interior space 28 adjacent the diaphragm spring 6.
