PURPOSE:To provide a melamine production-inhibiting external medicine exhibiting a remarkable whiting effect due to the melamine production-inhibiting action of mercaptopyridine, by compounding the mercaptopyridine as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A mercaptopyridine of the formula (the thiol group is bonded at 2, 3 or 4 position of the pyridine ring), preferably 2-mercaptopyridine or 4-mercaptopyridine, is compounded as an active ingredient with a cosmetic such as cream, beauty wash, pack or powder or with an external preparation such as emulsion, lotion, liniment or ointment in an amount of usually 0.01-20wt.%, preferably 0.1-5wt.%, to provide a melamine production-inhibiting external medicine having the aforementioned effect and non-poisonous to human bodies. |
