PURPOSE: To couple a photodetector effectively with a scintillation material by providing a scintillation material emitting light in response to absorption of radiation, a photodetector, and a plurality of segments. CONSTITUTION: A scintillation camera 10 comprises a polygonaliy split optical waveguide 12 for coupling a photodetector 14 optically with a scintillation crystal 16. The waveguide 12 comprises separated segments 17, 18, 20, 22. The separated segments can be assembled inexpensively and can be arranged easily with a scintillation material on the intermediate plane regardless of the shape thereof. When the photodetector is coupled optically with the scintillation material utilizing the split optical waveguide, an effective scintillation camera can be realized at low cost.
