PURPOSE:To fully bring out fuel performance and prevent damage to an engine when erroneously judged to be using a regular fuel at the time of using a high octane fuel by returning to the combustion control for the high octane fuel each time at the start of operation of engine. CONSTITUTION:The operating condition of an engine is detected by a means A while detecting knocking which occurs in the engine by a means B. On the other hand, a fundamental control value for controlling the combustion condition in accordance with the operating condition of the engine for each fuel with different octane number is housed in a map and set by a means C. At the start of the operation of engine, a fundamental control value map for high octane number fuel is selected by a means D, while carrying the map over to a fundamental control value map for a low octane number fuel by a means E as necessary. The combustion condition control value of the engine is set by a means F based on the fundamental control value retrieved from a map. Based on the combustion condition control value, the parameter in regard to the combustion condition of the engine is operated by a means G. |
