PRODUCTION OF CERAMIC HONEYCOMB

PURPOSE:To produce the title honeycomb core which has fewer cavities, high strength and regular cell shapes by boring communicating holes to the specific unexpanded honeycomb core and expending the honeycomb core, then sticking a ceramics material thereto and sintering. CONSTITUTION:Adhesive agent layers 4 are formed to a filament shape of a prescribed width at every prescribed pitch P in the longitudinal direction on a sheet-like base material (e.g.: aluminum foil) 3 which has a relatively low m.p. and is capable of forming bent parts by permanent bending deformation. A prescribed number of sheets of the base materials 3 are then overlapped on each other in such a manner that the adhesive agent layers 4 are positioned with each 1/2P deviation alternately to form the unexpanded honeycomb core 6. The communicating holes 8 are bored to the respective joint parts 5 of the cores 6 and the parts for forming the cell walls 7 through the base materials 3 and thereafter, the core is cut to a prescribed length in the direction orthogonal with the joint parts 5 and is expanded in the overlapping direction, by which the honeycomb core 2 having the cells 9 of an approximately uniform regular hexagonal shape is obtd. The liquid ceramics material is coated on this core 2 and is sintered.
