The crate (1) for beverage bottles (6) has a bottom (2) which supports the bottles and four side walls (3) which rise above the top of the bottles (6) and have in each case complementary upper and lower stacking support surfaces (4, 5). Arranged below the upper stacking support surface (5) and above the top (7) of the bottles (6) is a plate-shaped covering (8) whose shape is adapted to the open top side of the crate. A plurality of attachment devices (14) are arranged on the inside of the side walls (3). The attachment devices have a resting surface (15), which resting surfaces allow the covering (8) which can be fitted on to be stuck firmly by means of an adhesive layer (16) applied thereto. The console crate has the particular advantage that the covering (8) cannot be removed from the crate (1) without the covering tearing or being bent and thus leaving a visible sign that this crate has been tampered with. <IMAGE>
