PURPOSE:To improve personal identifying probability by using length information on parts divided by finger joints as a feature parameter. CONSTITUTION:A registerer inputs his/her own register code through a code input part 19 and a control part 24 calls the feature value of a finger corresponding to the input register code out of a feature register part 22. Then the registerer puts his/her hand 12 on a hand placing board 11. Thus the amount of finger features is extracted. In other words, the inter-joint length l1-l3 of a finger 30 is measured by detecting muscles (joint parts) 31-33 formed on the fingerprint side of the finger 30 as well as the tip part 34 of the finger 30 from the difference of the image element distributions of an input image A collating/deciding part 23 collates the feature value extracted from the input image with that called out of the part 22. Based on this collation result, the identity of the register is decided. |
