The present invention relates to a vibration device, such as a vibrating screen, vibrating grid or vibrating drier, in which, by means of the special arrangement of a vibration drive on the vibration device and by means of the construction of the vibration drive as an unbalance-type drive, it is achieved that the bulk material which is to be caused to vibrate is conveyed at a speed which decreases from the feed point to the discharge point of the vibration device. This gives rise to a constant bulk-material height on the vibration device, in particular in the case of diminishing bulk-material quantities on the vibration device. By this means, in vibrating grids of combustion installations, the combustion is controlled and a uniform burn-up is achieved, the formation of streaks in the exhaust gas at the same time being combatted.
