PURPOSE:To forecast the life of a xenon lamp from the difference between an in-use time corresponding to the discharging electric power of a stored value and a use limit time corresponding to an in-use limit discharging electric power value by using the discharging electric power value of an in-use xenon lamp. CONSTITUTION:A xenon lamp 20 which is not used and an optical glass filter 27 are used and turned on, and sample surface emission illuminance is controlled 24 automatically to a constant value to measure the discharging electric power value which varies with time; and a signal for the start of arithmetic operation is sent to an arithmetic processor 4 at intervals of certain predetermined time 3 and a measured discharging electric power value signal 2 is inputted and matched with the stored value 1, thereby calling an in-use time corresponding to the signal value. The use limit discharging electric power value of the xenon lamp 20 is determined previously, the use limit time corresponding to it is called, and arithmetic 4 of (use limit time) - (use time corresponding to signal value) = (remaining time) is calculated and displayed on a xenon lamp life forecasting display meter 5. |
