PURPOSE:To reduce an extension in a lengthwise direction of a classifying device to a required minimum and to save a space of the classifying device by making use of the acceleration in a horizontal direction and the positional energy which are exerted by a conveyor on an electromagnetic steel plate. CONSTITUTION:The following are provided: two or more conveyors 32-35 which are divided in accordance with the kind of an electromagnetic steel plate; a classifying means which forms a drop route of the electromagnetic steel plate 1A by detecting an entry of the electromagnetic steel plate 1A at the upper stream side of the conveyor 31 at the inlet side and by shifting one conveyor 32 upward according to the prescribed sequence; two or more palettes 51-55 which are arranged at the lower part of the drop route in accordance with the drop route; a moving stand 50 which supports the two or more palettes 51-55 along a drop direction of the electromagnetic steel plate 1A. The electromagnetic steel plate is dropped in an obliquely downward direction by making use of the own weight of the electromagnetic steel plate which has been accelerated by the conveyor. By this setup, it is possible to reduce a split length of the conveyor to less than a half of a length of the electromagnetic steel plate and to save a space of a classifying device.
