PURPOSE:To shorten a matching processing time, and to recognize an object at a high speed by limiting a relative feature for checking a correspondence relation to a dictionary data, by a space position relation. CONSTITUTION:An image which is inputted to an image processor 22 is quantized and stored in an image memory 24, and processed by an image processing exclusive circuit 27 in accordance with a program of a program memory 25. In this processing, the image is divided into cells of a suitable size, a local feature is stored in every cell, and from among each cell, the cell whose relative position relation is equal to a dictionary data is selected, matching of a data in the cell and the dictionary data is executed, by which an object is recognized. That is, all local features are not brought to matching to the dictionary data, but the cell having a local feature being near the diction ary data is selected first. In such a way, a useless matching processing can be avoided, and the processing can be executed at a high speed. |
