PURPOSE:To provide a fluorescent light emitting device with excellent light emitting efficiency, light emission color, life characteristic, and emission characteristic by laminating No.1 light emitting layer consisting of sulfides of fluorescent substance on the base side and No.2 light emitting body consisting of fluorescent substance of non-sulfide type on the No.1 light emitting layer one over another. CONSTITUTION:Existing light emitting display part 13 is composed of a blue emitting fluorescent substance layer 13a of sulfide type on the base 11 side and an ultraviolet-blue emitting fluorescent substance layer 13b of non-sulfide type on the layer 13a laminated one over another. Electron beam radiated from a linear cathode 15 is accelerated by a control electrode followed by attractive acceleration with an anode voltage of 1-20kV impressed on the display part 13, and is irradiated onto light emitting layer. Part of this electron beam excites the layer 13b to cause light emission, and the electron beam which has penetrated the layer 13b excites now the layer 13a to cause light emission. Here as fluorescent substance of sulfide type is a blue emitting fluorescent substance of one or more of Zn1-xCdxS:Ag, M(at X=0-0.2, M=Cl, F, Br, Al, Ga, In and one or more of ZnS:[Zn]. As the fluorescent substance of non-sulfide type is an ultraviolet-blue emitting fluorescent substance of one or more of CaWO4, Y2SiO5:Ce.
