PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of cracks on a conductor section made of superconductive ceramic by heating the raw material powder in a covered tube in stages during the process in which the covered tube filled with the raw material powder is shrunk in diameter in stages then gradually cooling it. CONSTITUTION:The raw material powder 11 of oxide superconductive ceramic is filled into a covered tube 10 to form a composite tube 12, then the primary heat treatment is applied. The composite tube 12 is inserted into a die 13 and shrunk to the preset diameter, a heating device 14 is operated to heat the raw material powder 11 being shrunk for the preset time, then a heating device 15, a die 16, and a heating device 17 are shifted to perform the heat treatment and contract machining. When the composite tube 12 is shrunk to the desired diameter, the heat treatment is applied so that the raw material powder 11 in the composite tube 12 is further reacted, the oxide superconductive ceramic is sufficiently generated in the covered tube 10 to form a conductor section, thus a superconductive wire rod is obtained. The occurrence of cracks on the conductor portion made of superconductive ceramic can be thereby prevented.
