<p>PURPOSE:To provide the titled medium having improved electromagnetic conversion characteristics and excellent traveling stability and traveling durability by combining resins having hydrophilic functional groups and carbon black having adequate grain sizes. CONSTITUTION:The ferromagnetic powder of the magnetic recording medium provided with a magnetic layer essentially consisting of the ferromagnetic powder and binder on a nonmagnetic base has >=40m<2>/g specific surface area by a BET method. The binder thereof consists of the compsn. which is composed of the vinyl chloride resin contg. the component expressed by formula I as the functional group in the molecule and the functional group-contg. resin, except the vinyl chloride resin, having at least one kind of the components expressed by formula II in the molecule as the 2nd component and in which the 1st and 2nd components are combined at 0.4-2.5 ratio by weight of the 2nd component to the 1st component. The magnetic layer formed by mixing and dispersing the ferromagnetic powder and the binder with and in the carbon black having 20-120mmu average grain size is provided on said medium. The recording medium which has the good electromagnetic conversion characteristics, obviates degradation in high-frequency output and S/N and has the excellent traveling stability and durability is thereby obtd.</p> |
