PURPOSE:To improve the performance for cleaning, and cooling the vicinity of a light source, by providing an original platen lower face cleaning device so that it can be switched freely to a first state which comes into contact with the lower face and a second state which is separated therefrom, and switching the state, based on a prescribed number of sheets as a reference. CONSTITUTION:An original platen cleaning device A is provided in the vicinity of the upstream in the feed and discharge paper direction to a light source 18, and a cleaning tool 31 consisting of a brush 29 and a holding member 30 is switched to a state which comes into contact with the lower face of a freely reciprocatable original platen 1 and a state which is separated therefrom, by an operation of a solenoid 32 by a control mechanism 33. Usually, the solenoid is degaussed and a spindle (b) is projected by a spring S, and the cleaning tool 31 provided continuously on the spindle abuts on the lower face of the platen 1. After the prescribed number of sheets have been copied continuously, the solenoid 32 is energized and separated from the lower base. When the state is switched by setting the prescribed number of copy sheets as a cleaning cycle, a temperature rise of the vicinity of the light source can be prevented, while cleaning satisfactorily the lower face. |
