In a laser system the length stability of the resonant cavity (10) is maintained by three mounting assemblies. A first assembly (40a, 40b, 42) provides a kinematic support mounting an Invar bar (32) to a frame (16). A second assembly (20a, 20b) provides one-piece gimbal pivot ring (210) to mount each laser cavity end mirror (246) to a fixed member (232) clamped to the bar (32). A third mounting assembly (50) automatically compensates for changes in length of an Invar support bar (32) due to temperature variations which could alter the cavity length of the laser cavity (10). Two path folding mirrors (30a, 30b) are mounted at the outer ends of respective parallelogram members (310) joined by a central piece (302) fixed to an end of the bar (32). The parallelogram members (310) are rotated by the difference in thermal length variation between the end part of the bar (32) and a rod (332) clamped (330) to the bar (32) and acting on the members (310) through a transverse coupling beam (340).
