PURPOSE:To enable the number of operating circulating water pumps to be controlled by connecting outlet pipings of the circulating water pumps on each shaft, and enable the number of operating circulating water pumps to be automatically controlled according to the cooling water temperatures and the operating conditions of the shafts. CONSTITUTION:Communication valves 3a-3e are provided to connect the outlet piping sections of circulating water pumps 1a-1f. And cooling water temperature are detected by a cooling water temperature detector 9, and inputted to a control device 10 for controlling the number of operating circulating water pumps, together with the number of operating shafts, the number of operating circulating water pumps, and the generated output of each shaft. The control device 10 received each input signal selects the optimum number of circulating water pumps based on the output generated at that time. Then, output signals from the control device 10 transmit heat exchanger 4a-4f outlet valve-adjusted values to the circulating water pumps 1a-1f and each heat exchanger outlet valve so that the optimum number of circulating water pumps and the required quantity of cooling water on each shaft can be provided. The operation of circulating water pumps can therefore be automatically and most favorably controlled.
