The device comprises a flexible pipe 22, in which is placed a flexible element 21 over the entire length of the pipe 22, including end parts outside the pipe 22. The tool 20 is fixed onto one of the end parts of the flexible element 21 and the other part interacts with a drive means 11 for rotating the flexible element 21 inside the pipe 22. The device also comprises a torsionless winder/unwinder 14 for storing the pipe 22, a puller/pusher 15 and a guide pipe 16 joining the puller/pusher to the entry of the tube 3 into which the tool 20 is introduced. The device can be used in particular for inspecting the tubes 3 of a steam generator of a pressurised water nuclear reactor, the tool 20 being an inspection and measurement probe. <IMAGE>
