PURPOSE:To easily know the generation cause of a communication abnormality with a user by adding the data displaying a character which cannot be understood even by the user to the result of a communication report shown by the diagnosing code meaningless to the user. CONSTITUTION:When a transmission original is not set to an opponent at a receiving side at the time of polling, the data showing the effect are given to a control part 1 at the receiving side. The control part 1 generates a corresponding diagnosing code and sends it to an internal register (REG). Next, the C address of a writing part 3, in which character display data 5 corresponding to the diagnosing code of the register (REG), is designated and the character display data 5 of 'P. NO DOCUMENT' are read out and sent and stored to a memory part 2 together with the diagnosing code of the register (REG). As the result, the data character-displaying this are stored together with the diagnosing code showing a communication result to the memory part 2 as a communication report and this is read out and displayed.
