PURPOSE:To aim at making a drive shaft compact by securing a cover for covering a storage section for a movable member and a guide plate at the outer periphery of the movable member, and by disposing the same between the guide plate and a one-way clutch. CONSTITUTION:A movable member 62 is provided on the crankshaft 1 of an engine A, movably in the axial direction, facing a stationary member b1, and an actuating element 9 is disposed in a storage section 8 on the side remote from the facing side. When the actuating element is rotated and elevated upward so as to move outward along a guide plate 10 secured to the drive shaft 1, the movable member 62 is displaced toward the stationary member b1 so as to increase the effective diameter with respect to a belt 6, thereby continuous variable speed change is carried out. In this arrangement, a cover 14 for covering the storage section for the movable member 62 and the guide plate 10 is secured outside of the movable member b1, and is disposed between the guide plate 10 and a housing for a one-way clutch 11 which is provided on the drive shaft 1 adjacent to the guide plate 10. Thus, it is possible to make the drive shaft compact without necessity of an axial installation space for the drive shaft.
