发明名称 SODIUM-SURFUR CELL
摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To raise the safety of a cell without entailing any drop in energy density, by forming a solid electrolytic tube into a double tube construction via a narrow gap, and installing a storage tank which supplies and absorbs sodium between this narrow gap and an Na pole. CONSTITUTION:At the upper outer circumferential side of a cell, there is provided with a sidium storage tank 13 to be formed by an alpha-alumina ring 15 and a vessel 1. In a gap 2, there provided with a metal mesh 14 for supplying sodium to fused sodium from the storage tank 13 by dint of capillary force. When a solid electrolytic outer tube 9 or a solid electrolytic inner tube 10 is broken, the gap part 2 is narrowed to some extent, whereby a sodium quantity inside this gap part 2 is reducible, thus safety is increasable. And, as material for the metal mesh 14, such one that is fused by heat to be produced reaction between sodium and surfur is used, and after the solid electrolytic tubes are broken, the sodium is prevented from being supplied to the inside of a reaction area, thus the safety is yet more improved.</p>
