[Also in Division C2] Poly urea and polyurethane lacquers and coatings for glass, wood or sheet steel are produced by the partial reduction of a polyisocyanate either alone or together with one or more compounds containing reducible functional groups. In examples (1) a mixture of N-formyl-bis-(isocyanatohexyl) urea, stated to be novel, N-formyl-tris-(isocyanatohexyl) biuret, 1, 6-hexamethylene diisocyanate and zinc octoate in ethyl acetate are coated on glass, wood and sheet steel to give light-fast, elastic, air-drying lacquer films. (2) N-formyl-bis-(isocyanatohexyl) urea and a polyester of trimethylolpropane and phthalic acid in ethylacetate and methylisobutylketone are coated on glass. (3) An isocyanate composition derived from the co-reduction of 1, 6-hexamethylene diisocyanate and adipic acid dinitrile, tin octoate and dimethylbenzylamine in ethyl acetate are coated on glass (4) the reaction product of the co-reduction of 1, 6-hexamethylene diisocyanate and cyanoethylated pyrrolidone and stannous octoate in ethyl acetate are coated on glass, wood or sheet steel. |
