Compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which R represents a hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 10 carbon atoms which is linked to the pyrrolidinedione ring via a C-C single bond, R' is a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon radical bonded via oxygen and having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Y is a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a hydrocarbon radical bonded via oxygen and having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and Z is a halogen atom, are herbicidally active.
